Racial & Economic Justice

One Colorado is committed to a broader social justice agenda.Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Coloradans are members of every race and economic class. We are white and black; Latino/a and Asian; poor and rich; Muslim, Christian, and Jewish; young and old. But, together we are One Colorado.

Our work reflects all Coloradans, no matter our race, gender, socioeconomic status, or religion.

Policies that are hurtful to LGBT Coloradans are made worse by racial and economic disparities. Additionally, LGBT people of color face unique obstacles to a fair and equal Colorado. Ultimately, when any group is singled out for discrimination and unequal treatment, everyone is at risk.

Access to affordable healthcare, reproductive choice, immigration, and education are just some of the issues that reflect our broader vision of a more fair and just Colorado.

By attacking lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, our opposition creates a culture of intolerance for communities of color, working and low-income families, and people of faith. The story of discrimination is often the same, whether it’s expressed in racism, religious intolerance, or hate towards the LGBT community.

While we work to secure protections and opportunities for all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Coloradans and their families, we are part of a larger, diverse community and are impacted by a broad range of issues. We will support policies that alleviate existing racial and economic disparities and oppose policies that perpetuate these disparities.
