Rep. Gerou is the first Republican co-sponsor of civil unions

Republican Representative Cheri Gerou has signed on as a co-sponsor of the Colorado Civil Union Act. She is the first Republican in Colorado to sponsor the bill, which was introduced on January 9 for the third legislative session in a row.

Join us in thanking Rep. Gerou for her courage and leadership. Click here to send her an e-mail.

During the 2012 General Assembly, Rep. Gerou cast a “yes” vote for civil unions in the House Appropriations Committee. She worked alongside other pro-equality lawmakers to try and bring the bill up for a vote on the House floor in the waning days of the session. But, like the rest of us, Rep. Gerou saw her hopes of passage dashed when Speaker Frank McNulty shut down the House to kill civil unions.

Rep. Gerou’s support will help ensure that civil unions is passed and signed into law this year! Let’s say “thanks!” to her for putting equality before politics!
