There are several Transgender Day of Remembrance events happening across the state this week. We’ve included the details below (plus links!) if you’re interested in attending.For information about what Transgender Day of Remembrance is, scroll to the bottom of this post.
Durango Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil and Potluck
When: Saturday, November 21st at 6:00pm
Where: Unitarian Universalist Bowman Hall Annex, 419 San Juan Drive, Durango, CO 81301
What: This Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil will include a potluck, music, and networking.
Colorado Springs Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil (hosted by Peak Area Gender Expressions)
When: Thursday, November 19th at 6:30pmWhere: All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church (ASUUC) – 730 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903What: Come out to show your support for the local transgender community while memorializing those who have been killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. This observance will include the message of reflection, encouragement and hope! This is a free community event, open to the general public – invite your friends & family! The observance will include a candlelight vigil and refreshments. Fort Collins Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil (hosted by Northern Colorado Pride)
When: Friday, November 20th at 6:30pm
Where: Oak Street Plaza – W Oak St, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524
What: All LGBTQ+ community members and allies welcome! Join Northern Colorado Pride for a quiet reading of the names of transgender individuals throughout the world who have lost their lives this year. We remember them as vital parts of our community. Please bring battery candles or flashlights — open flames are not allowed. This will shine an even larger light for our communities’ losses. Please note: This event is outdoors, so make sure to dress for the weather!
Grand Junction Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil
When: Friday, November 20th at 7pm
Where: First Congregational Church United Church of Christ
1425 N 5th St, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501
What: Join One Colorado and the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Grand Junction for a vigil to memorialize those who were killed this year due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.There will be a candlelight vigil — to begin at 7pm — around the labyrinth on the south side of the church. A small reception inside will follow. This event is free and open to the public.
Golden Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil (hosted by the Gender Identity Center)
When: Friday, November 20th at 7:00pm
Where: Jefferson Unitarian Church – 14350 W 32nd Ave. Golden, CO 80401
What: Show your support for Colorado’s transgender community while memorializing those who have been killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. This observance will include the message of reflection, encouragement and hope. This is a free community event and is open to the general public. Feel free to invite your friends & family!
Denver Transgender Day of Remembrance Service
When: Friday, November 20th at 7:00pmWhere: Sixth Avenue United Church of Christ – Denver – 3250 E 6th Ave, Denver, Colorado 80206
What: All are invited to join Sixth Avenue United Church of Christ and other Capitol Hill churches for the Transgender Day of Remembrance. TDOR commemorates transgender people who were murdered in the past year, and is an opportunity for us to renew our commitment to advocate with and for our transgender neighbors as we work to build a world, and a church, where all are safe.
Boulder Transgender Week of Remembrance Events
Tuesday, November 17th – Transgender 101 Community Training at Voices For Children CASA
(2305 Canyon Blvd. #101 Boulder, CO) – 5:30pm
Have you wanted to learn about how to make your language more transgender-inclusive? Could you use some practice with new pronouns? Are you wanting to be a ally to the transgender community, but you’re not quite sure how to help? Join Out Boulder for this open community training — generously provided by Voices for Children CASA. They will discuss social stereotyping, transgender language, pronouns, the difference between sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, and finish with scenarios to solidify our new information.
Wednesday, November 18th – Non-Binary Awareness Film Screening of Three to Infinity at Dairy Center for the Arts (2590 Walnut St. Boulder, CO 80302) – 7:30pm Tickets $11
Please join Out Boulder for a special screening of the groundbreaking film “Three to Infinity.” Learn more about gender identities outside of the male and female binary and explore the stories of people who live outside the binary. Tickets are $11 and can be purchased here.
Thursday, November 19th – “Navigating the Healthcare System as a Transgender Person” at Longmont Safety And Justice Center (225 Kimbark St. Longmont, CO 80501) – 6:00pm

Friday, November 20th – Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil and rally (meet at the Courthouse on the corner of Pearl St. and 13th St.) – 6:45pmThe vigil will be followed by a silent march down Pearl Street and then Out Boulder will meet from 8-9 PM for a non-religious Remembrance Ceremony in the Labyrinth of the First United Methodist Church behind the Pridehouse.
What is Transgender Day of Remembrance?
Transgender Day of Remembrance is held each year in November and memorializes those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.The Transgender Day of Remembrance serves many purposes: It raises awareness of hate crimes against transgender people, it publicly mourns and honors the lives of those who might otherwise be forgotten, and it gives allies to the transgender community a chance to step forward and stand in vigil to memorializing those who’ve passed.We also created two images you can use as your profile picture on Transgender Day of Remembrance.
