Denver Public Schools (DPS) Resolution of Inclusion of LGBTQ Community Members Press Conference

Denver, CO -- One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans, will host a press conference on Thursday, January 23rd at 3:30 PM MT on the first resolution to be passed from the new DPS Board of Directors in 2020.  ‍

WHAT: Denver Public Schools (DPS) Resolution of Inclusion of LGBTQ Community Members Press Conference

‍WHEN: Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 at 3:30 PM MT

‍WHERE: DPS Administration Building, 1860 Lincoln St, Denver, Colorado 80203

‍WHO:Daniel Ramos, Executive Director, One Colorado            

Tay Anderson, Denver Public Schools Board Member            

Amayas Gonzales, DPS Student, One Colorado GSA Leadership Council            

Sam Long, former DSST teacher.This resolution ensures that every member of the Denver Public Schools community will be able to learn, work, and prosper in an affirming environment.

"While we all hope that schools serve their purpose as an incubator for creativity, connection, and learning, far too often they can be lonely or hostile places. This resolution is a much-needed step to protect LGBTQ youth, educators, administrators, staff, and parents from becoming targets of bullying and abuse. We hope that other school districts will follow the example set by Denver Public Schools and affirm their commitment to an inclusive, welcoming learning environment for all .”
