One Colorado Featured in HRC’s 2019 State Equality Index Report

Denver, CO -- On January 30th, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) released its annual State Equality Index report. Colorado is ranked among the top states for LGBTQ equality with regard to law and policy at the state level. One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans and their families, released the following statement from Executive Director, Daniel Ramos:

“We are so proud of the progress we’ve made toward creating a fair and just Colorado for all. This report demonstrates the wide range of laws and policies needed to make LGBTQ equality a reality throughout the state. It also reminds us that the work is far from over. This session, we have seen the most aggressive slate of anti-LGBTQ legislation introduced in the past decade.
It reminds us that we have to keep fighting to ensure LGBTQ Coloradans are protected against such attacks.”

- Daniel Ramos, One Colorado Executive Director

The Human Rights Campaign's State Equality Index (SEI) report is entering its sixth year of evaluating statewide law and policy for every state. These state scorecards look at measures, both positive and negative, that affect LGBTQ equality in 6 areas: parenting, relationship recognition & religious refusal, non-discrimination, hate crimes & criminal justice, youth, and health & safety.
