One Colorado Hosts "Hops to the Polls" GOTV Kick-Off Event to Mobilize Voters for the 2024 Election

Denver, CO – August 27th, 2024

As the 2024 elections approach, the state's leading LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, One Colorado is calling on all supporters to join the movement and ensure that every voice is heard at the polls. The stakes are high this year, and to kick off our “Get Out the Vote” (GOTV) efforts, we’re excited to announce our GOTV Kick-Off event – Hops to the Polls!

“Voting is an act of love, for ourselves, our neighbors, and future generations. When we vote, we’re not just choosing leaders; we're choosing the kind of community we want to be. Let's vote with joy, knowing that our commitment to our community will make a difference!" -  Nadine Bridges (she/her), Executive Director of One Colorado

Taking place on September 8th, 2024 at Cerebral Brewing - Aurora Arts, this event is designed to energize and empower the community ahead of the November 5th election. Participants will hear about One Colorado’s comprehensive GOTV initiatives, including opportunities to engage in text banking, door-knocking, and other in-person volunteer events. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or new to the movement, there’s a way for everyone to get involved.

Freedom to Marry is on the Ballot in Colorado

One of the most pressing issues this election cycle is the fight to repeal Colorado’s outdated ban on marriage for same-sex couples, Amendment 43. Although marriage for LGBTQ+ couples is federally recognized, Colorado remains one of 30 states with a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. In 2006, voters narrowly approved Amendment 43, defining marriage as between one man and one woman. Now, nearly two decades later, it’s time to align our state’s laws with our values and ensure that all Coloradans can marry the person they love.

Your vote this November is more than just a statement; it’s a step toward justice and equality. Join us at Hops to the Polls to learn how you can make a difference and advocate for a Colorado that truly reflects the diverse community we live in.
