Friends and colleagues – After successfully bringing the freedom to marry to Colorado, and helping One Colorado amplify its work to ensure lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth have access to safe and supportive environments in school, secure rights for transgender Coloradans, and improve access to culturally responsive LGBTQ health care, Dave Montez has chosen to expand his career in progressive advocacy by joining the team of the Democracy Alliance this fall. We have been honored to work with Dave and will be sad to see him leave Colorado, but we are thrilled with the advances in LGBTQ equality under his two and a half years of leadership at the organization. One Colorado and One Colorado Education Fund were founded in response to a statewide assessment of Colorado’s LGBTQ community and work together to advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Coloradans and their families. These organizations have built a statewide network of over 42,000 supporters, a presence in support of their shared vision with offices in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Grand Junction, and programs focused on LGBTQ health care, safe schools, transgender rights, public education, political advocacy, and grassroots organizing. In June, One Colorado and One Colorado Education Fund began a new statewide needs assessment in order to determine which issues are now the most important to LGBTQ Coloradans, and to inform the development of a strategic plan for the organization. The Board of One Colorado is now looking for our next Executive Director to help lead the organization into the future – beginning with the development of the new strategic plan. One Colorado is looking for a dynamic and proven leader who will work with the Board and staff to fulfill the organization’s mission: To secure protections and opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Coloradans and their families. Interested applicants should send a resumé/CV and a cover letter to edsearch@one-colorado.org.  Please see the attached job description below, and forward to your networks, so we can ensure we have a strong pool of applicants. We want to, again, thank Dave for his phenomenal work and look forward to expanding LGBTQ equality in Colorado with help from a new leader.

Best,

Mark Thrun and Bill Mead
