90 Colorado Leaders Stand with One Colorado and LGBTQ Coloradans during Pride Month

One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans released the following statements in regards to the month of June which is known as Pride Month, a month full of celebrations for the LGTBQ community and allies. As we celebrate the end of Pride Month, One Colorado is proud to announce that nearly ninety Colorado elected officials are committed to supporting LGBTQ Coloradans and their families during Pride Month and beyond. These leaders stand with us in our vision of a Colorado where LGBTQ people are protected from discrimination; a vision where our transgender and gender non-conforming community members are not in fear of living their most authentic lives. Colorado continues to be a national leader in advancing LGBTQ equality, and this coalition is a group of committed allies in continuing this march towards a fair and just Colorado.

“One Colorado continues the hard work of building a fair and just Colorado for all LGBTQ Coloradans and their families. 2021 has been a record-breaking year for anti-LGBTQ legislation. The rights of LGBTQ people, especially transgender children and adults, have been attacked in countless State Legislatures. We need all of our elected leaders to listen to our concerns, connect with our community, and advocate for LGBTQ Coloradans from the local level to statewide and federal level. We are proud to break down barriers in Colorado, which this year included prohibiting discrimination against LGBTQ youth and families in the foster care system and protecting gender-based discrimination in the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act in 2021.”

- One Colorado Executive Director, Nadine Bridges

‍“Pride month is a time to celebrate diversity and the LGBTQ+ community. Colorado has made amazing strides from our prior reputation as 'The Hate State' and we will continue to work on policies that ensure our state remains open and embracing of all communities.”

- Senator Dominick Moreno

‍“LGBTQIA+ Coloradans deserve and need equitable protection under the law. Almost every social issue in America, from poverty to domestic violence, disproportionately impacts LGBTQ people, and especially our trans and nonbinary communities. It's up to elected leaders and the public to stand together to fight for the rights, safety, and dignity of our LGBTQIA neighbors, and I am glad to stand with One Colorado to do that.”

‍- Edgewater City Councilor, Michal Rosenoer

The letter will remain open for additional elected officials to show their support for the LGBTQ community: https://bit.ly/PrideLetter Questions? Email One Colorado Organizing & Political Manager, Branden Shafer, at brandens@one-colorado.org.
